BLACK BOX

I’ve got a little black box
And in this little black box
Is another black box that’s locked

All the screams & knock-knocks
Are locked inside my black box
It dwells inside a dark room that’s locked

Little pills and refills
Addicted to a lover’s ill-reputed games of treachery and shame

An empty thrill
Somethin’ to feel
To get me through the night I will
Do most anything but get a name

Been to the school of hard-knocks
And graduated top-notch
No one can take you down
You know the game

Around & round
And upside down
That smile has turned into a frown
Lay your trust in man
He’ll let you down…every time

If you could look inside my black box
And hear the screams and knock-knocks
I guarantee one thing
A state-of-shock

That’s why I keep my black box
With all its screams and knock-knocks
In another black box that’s locked

Everybody has a black box
Held under key and pad lock
Hiding in a dark room that’s locked

The master key will unlock
My little hidden black box
So if you dare — beware, a state-of-shock!
